Transport Planner

Transport planners design and optimise vehicle routes and schedules to ensure deliveries are made efficiently, legally, and cost-effectively. Prism 7 Resourcing places transport planners with haulage companies, distribution operators, and logistics businesses across the South East.

Key Duties

Planning daily vehicle routes using transport management system (TMS) software
Allocating drivers and vehicles to loads based on licence category, hours, and proximity
Monitoring driver hours and tachograph data to ensure WTD and EU hours compliance
Liaising with customers and clients to confirm delivery time slots and collections
Reacting to real-time issues such as breakdowns, delays, or late customer requests
Working with traffic office and fleet team to manage vehicle availability
Producing daily KPI reports and flagging inefficiencies to the transport manager

Typical Qualifications & Requirements

Previous experience in transport planning or traffic office operations
Familiarity with transport management systems (e.g. Mandata, Microlise, or similar)
Strong understanding of drivers’ hours regulations and tachograph rules
GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English
CPC in Road Haulage or Transport Management desirable
