HIAB Driver

HIAB drivers operate lorry-mounted cranes to self-load and offload heavy or awkward goods at customer sites, often without the need for a forklift or loading bay. Prism 7 Resourcing places HIAB drivers with plant hire companies, builders' merchants, and specialist haulage operators across Essex and the South East.

Key Duties

Operating a lorry-mounted HIAB crane to load and offload goods safely at site
Planning lifts and assessing ground conditions before operating the crane
Securing loads correctly and using appropriate slinging and lifting accessories
Driving to customer sites including construction sites, industrial units, and kerbside deliveries
Pre-use checks on the HIAB unit, outriggers, and crane controls
Completing delivery notes and obtaining customer sign-off
Maintaining HIAB certification and attending refresher training as required

Typical Qualifications & Requirements

Category C or C+E driving licence
Valid HIAB or lorry-loader crane operator certificate (ALLMI accredited preferred)
CPC Driver Qualification Card
Digital tachograph card
Slinger/banksman qualification desirable
