Chef

Chefs create and deliver the dishes that define a venue's reputation, working as part of a kitchen brigade to produce food to a consistently high standard under pressure. Prism 7 Resourcing places chefs at all levels — from chef de partie through to head chef — with restaurants, hotels, contract caterers, and events companies.

Key Duties

  • Preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes in line with the menu specification and head chef standards
  • Managing and organising the mise en place for each service to ensure smooth running
  • Maintaining strict food hygiene and allergen awareness throughout all preparation and cooking
  • Monitoring stock levels, rotating FIFO correctly, and minimising wastage
  • Assisting the head or sous chef with menu development and seasonal changes
  • Training junior kitchen staff and guiding commis chefs in technique and workflow
  • Completing kitchen opening and closing procedures including temperature logs

Typical Qualifications & Requirements

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery, or equivalent culinary training
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate (Level 3 preferred for senior chef roles)
  • Allergen awareness training in compliance with Natasha’s Law
  • Proven kitchen experience at a relevant level (CDP, sous, or head chef depending on role)
  • City & Guilds 706/1 or equivalent qualification advantageous
